If you’ve not heard about the Soup movement before, you should definitely look it up! It originally started in Detroit and the main aim was to sociably crowdfund to help local artists reach their ambition. The movement has now not only spread across the world but it has helped thousands of artists, entrepreneurs, charities and businesses to raise vital funds they need to support the ideas.

Sheffield Soup is not only a great way for local people to raise money but is also a fantastic social event. Even the pitchers who don’t win the money can make amazing contacts and just generally spread the word about some incredible things that are going on in our city!

So if you fancy some (free!) Silversmiths Soup, a great night out and want to support local people make sure you sign up for the next Soup. It’s being held on the 29th of August at The Printhouse (just behind the Cathedral) and is £5 minimum (no maximum of course!) entry. It promises to be another cracking evening with a mix of emotional, innovative and compelling pitches. Previous pitches have included HillsFest, Sheffield Hackspace, Baby Basics and Free Cakes for Kids.

Sheffield Soup also run a ‘Souper Social’ event which is also bi-monthly on the last Wednesday of (every other) month which is a social event where people network and make connections as well as learning about some of the cool concepts and businesses that are going on and starting up around Sheffield! Keep your eyes peeled for the events and make sure you sign up in advance as they usually sell out very quickly!
